GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB)-- Celebration Pointe announced on March 19 that Dave and Buster’s will be coming to Gainesville.
On March 15, Butler Town Center announced that The Cheesecake Factory will be coming to the city as well.
Director of Marketing for Butler Enterprises Mary Reichardt said they gathered information from the community about what they would like to see in the town center and The Cheesecake Factory was the top restaurant they mentioned.
“Every quarter we do a very large poll on our Facebook and Instagram pages ‘@shopatbutler' and we really kind of test the community waters,” Reichardt said. “Every time we’ve done that poll for the last three years Cheesecake Factory has been the #1 most demanded restaurant in every poll we've ever done. So we knew that was something we really had to go after."
Celebration Pointe's Senior Vice President for Asset Management Sean McIntosh said Dave & Busters was a great addition to the city's entertainment options.
“I think it does fill a void in the market for an entertainment venue,” McIntosh said. “That's pretty much unlike any other and it was a perfect fit for Celebration Pointe.”
The Dave & Buster’s in Gainesville will be different than the majority of the Dave & Buster’s buildings.
“It's a 19,000 square-foot store where other Dave & Buster’s are more in the area of 25,00 square feet but what it does is give an opportunity for smaller markets to enjoy the same concept that bigger markets have enjoyed for so long,” McIntosh said.
Greater Gainesville Chamber of Commerce Vice President of Economic Development Staci Bertrand appreciates the new businesses coming to the city.
“It’s a great testament of the businesses here in our region,” Bertrand said. “It creates a wonderful quality of place here to add to our great springs and our great outdoors. Our residents here in the region appreciate these types of locations and it really helps token our talent here and as well as attract our talent to the Greater Gainesville Area.”
They create a strategic plan every 5 years and during 2020 through 2025, their plan is to develop and sustain businesses in the municipalities they cover.
“That strategy is going to be in economic development and community strategy,” Bertrand said. “Which means we’re going to be focusing on talent attraction and retention expansion."
The Cheesecake Factory is set to open August of this year and Dave & Buster’s is set to open in early to mid-2020.
