GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) — Meet Zinnia, a Jersey Calf that became the newest addition to the Morningside Nature Center in Gainesville.

She joins other farm animals at the center’s Living History Farm and visitors can feed them hay and vegetables every Wednesday afternoon from 3pm to 4pm during the Barnyard Buddies program which runs from September through May. The farm represents a North Florida family homestead during the late 1800s and also includes other heritage breed livestock such as hogs, roosters, and sheep.

Barnyard Buddies is a free event but the center encourages donations of carrots, squash, apples, sweet potatoes, and melons to help feed the animals.

Morningside Nature Center is located at 3540 East University Avenue and is open Monday through Saturday from 8am to 6pm.
