New charges for Marion County Man accused of killing wife and children

OCALA, Fla. (WCJB)- Michael Wayne Jones Jr. has been now been charged with four counts of First Degree Premeditated Homicide in the deaths of his four children and step-children.

On Monday, October 7, 2019, the charges were filed in the Marion County Courthouse, saying that Jones killed his two children, 2-year-old Mercalli Jones and 1-year-old Aiyana Jones, as well as his two step-children, 10-year-old Cameron Bowers and 5-year-old Preston Bowers.

The Marion County Sheriff's office believes that Jones killed his wife and children's mother, Casei Jones, on July 10 with some kind of blunt-force instrument in their Summerfield home. They say that, the next day, he strangled the two older children. Finally, around two weeks later, he drowned the remaining two.

Detectives say that the bodies of all five were left in the home. At some point, he loaded them into a van and drove North to Georgia. The family of Casei Jones even ask the Sheriff's office for help because they had not seen her in weeks.

On September 15, Michael Wayne Jones Jr. was found in Brantley County, Georgia after crashing his van, where told officer that hi's wife's body was inside and later led detectives to where the four children's bodies were.

Michael Wayne Jones Jr. is being held at the Marion County Jail, where he has stayed since being charged with 2nd Degree Homicide for the death of his wife several weeks ago.
