New grant looks to help with Malaria vaccine
A promising vaccine coming out of the University of Florida is getting new funding. The Global Health Innovative Technology Fund has awarded UF and its partners more than $3 million for a vaccine that stops the spread of malaria.
Associate professor Rhoel Dinglasan has spent years developing the vaccine. The blood mosquitoes get from immunized humans would prevent them from becoming infected, so they couldn't infect anyone else. The new grant will move the vaccine from the experimental stage to human trials.
