New principal takes over a Marion County school this semester

There is a new principal taking over a Marion County school this semester.

Deborah Borge-Shaffer assumed the lead position at East Marion Elementary when staff returned from winter break.

Superintendent Heidi Maier has appointed her principal.

Borge-Shaffer has been the assistant at the school since 2017.

She also taught at Saddelwood and Hammett Bowen Elementary.

She is replacing Kendra Hamby.
