NEWBERRY, Fla. (WCJB)-- Already over 3,800 people have turned out to the “Just Between Friends” consignment sale in Newberry, as of Saturday afternoon.
The sale, which is expected to continue into Sunday, features over 90,000 items donated by around 430 local families. All are available to buy without breaking the bank.
Items on sale include children’s clothing, toys, cribs, strollers and more.
For those who organized the event, they told TV20 News the sale is personal for them.
“So I found out about this when my daughter was born,” said Karen Miner, a coordinator for the event. “I shopped the first sale and was just blown away by, you know, having children. It’s expensive and overwhelming.”
It’s those feelings which led Miner to get involved with the consignment.
“Gainesville has such an amazing community of moms. It’s more about the community for me,” she said.
Saturday’s sale also featured several activities for kids including a bouncy house, face painting and balloon animals.
The half-price pre-sale is scheduled to start Saturday evening at 5 p.m. and run through 9 p.m. For those unable to attend, the doors for the final half-off sale open on Sunday at 9 a.m. The sale is being held at the Easton Sports Complex in Newberry.
Because of the sale’s partnering with local charities, many unpurchased items will be donated.
