North Florida biotech company wins two defense contracts

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. (WCJB)-- Ology Bioservices has landed two Department of Defense contracts, estimated to be worth more than $135 million.

The company, based in Alachua, is expected to work on two projects.

The first will be to develop a medical countermeasure to biological threats like the plague, which would be used by terrorists.

The other is to create a manufacturing prototype to produce a DNA that could be used in genetic vaccines and gene therapy.

Each contract is set to last 30 months.
