A foundation awarded a UF health research grant to continue finding a cure for pediatric brain tumors.
Northwestern Mutual Foundation in Gainesville awarded $30,000 to Catherine Flores who is a UF assistant professor at the Wells Brain Tumor Center.
Flores is excited to use the money to help find a cure for a rare form of cancer in the nervous system.
“I'm looking forward to taking these therapies into clinical studies and to patients and actually being able to improve upon them,” Flores said.
Gainesville's Northwestern Mutual was able to award the money to Flores in her efforts to find the cure because of the community's support for the ‘Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation’ and the Lemon Ball.
