OCALA, Fla. (WCJB) - Police say they no longer have a suspect in custody after an apartment shooting in Marion County Tuesday.

Just before 4:30 p.m., Ocala police began investigating a drive-by shooting at Promenade Apartments.

It turns out the initial person they had in custody was not the shooter.

An officer located a dark gray Dodge Challenger, matching the description of the car they were looking for, and tried to stop the driver.

At one point, the vehicle crashed and officers had to run after the driver.

They found drugs on him and in the car, but police determined the person was not involved in the shooting.
