Ocala horse farm is highest bidder in October's yearlings sale at OBS

OCALA, Fla., (WCJB) – A horse farm near Ocala was the top buyer in day one of the October Ocala Breeder Sales Company's yearlings sale.

De-Meric Stables & Sales was the highest bidder on a colt sired by "Liam's Map," selling for $230,000. De-meric also spent $190,000 for a colt from a racehorse named "Empire Maker."

Overall the number of thoroughbreds sold and gross sales totals were slightly less than the numbers from a year ago, but the average price went up.

The second and final day of the October sale begins Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.
