43-year-old Bryan Burnett was hospitalized Saturday evening after the Florida Highway Patrol said he was hit head-on by another vehicle.

Troopers said James Johnson, 74, was driving south on State Road 100 near County Road 214 when, for unknown reasons, he crossed over the center line.

Johnson’s vehicle collided head-on with another car being driven by Burnett.

Burnett was rushed to UF Health Gainesville where he was said to be in critical condition.

Johnson and a passenger in his vehicle suffered minor injuries.

It’s unknown if Burnett was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the wreck.
