One dead, multiple seriously injured in Alachua County crash

Three vehicles collided, Friday evening, sending three people to the hospital and killing one, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said a Honda was heading west on State Road 24 around 8:17 p.m. when, for unknown reasons, it steered into oncoming traffic.

The front the the Honda hit the side of a Jeep, causing the Honda to spin and collide with a Hyundai.

The driver of the Honda, whose name was not released, was seriously injured and taken to UF Health Gainesville.

The driver of the Jeep, whose name was also not released, was killed. FHP has yet to notify family members.

Meanwhile the occupants of the Hyundai, 18-year-old Marli Milan Nipper and 17-year-old Maci Syloan Nipper, both of Newberry, were taken to UF Health in serious condition.

The crash remains under investigation.
