Peaceful Paths Back-To-School Initiative prepares students for the school year

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB)-- An organization in Gainesville is providing local kids with the tools and supplies they need to succeed in the new school year.

Peaceful Paths Back-To-School Initiative prepares students for the school year while taking away some of that financial burden for the parents. Peaceful Paths serves about 300 children each year who have been affected by domestic violence.

Donating to the back to school drive is one way to show your support for those kids.
"Knowing that there are people out there that are supporting them and really encouraging them to say, 'Hey, whatever else is going on in your life, we want you to be successful as you're starting school,' and it's a way to get them energized and excited. There may have been changes in their school situation, in their home situation, but this is a great way to get them really excited about what's to come in the next school year."

If you'd like to contribute, you can either donate individual items and gently used clothing, or purchase a pre-packed backpack online for 20 dollars, which comes with everything a student will need for the school year.

She went on to say that they hope to generate around 150 backpacks but they need the community's support to reach that goal.

The back to school drive will be going on until July 26. For a full supply list click here
