Prescribed burns continue in Marion and Levy County

MARION COUNTY, Fla. (WCJB) – Residents in parts of Levy and Marion counties will fill the sky with smoke for a second day.

The Florida Forest Service is continuing its 7,000-acres prescribed burn near Dunnellon.

This act of prevention replenishes the trees, puts nitrogen in the ground and makes it less likely for a wildfire to happen.

Officials went door-to-door letting people know roads in the area could be closed and there may be low visibility due to the smoke.
