ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. (WCJB)-- If you have overdue traffic fines and court costs, Alachua County is about to offer residents a second chance.
Alachua County Clerk of the Circuit Court, J.K. “Jess" Irby has launched Project Fresh Start to give residents a break from growing collection fees.
The one-week project will start on June 10 and will end June 14.
Irby said residents of Alachua County can come in during that week to have their collection fees from overdue traffic fines and court costs waived. However, outstanding costs must be paid.
“I hope a lot of people are able to take advantage of it,” Irby said. “Clear up any of those court costs, clear up the record, and no longer have this on their back and they're able to start fresh.”
Project Fresh Start will coincide with another event called the Driver's License Clinic which will help residents who have a suspended license get it back. The event will be on June 13.
