GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB)- While some North Central Florida residents are bringing out the pumpkin spice and spooky decorations, one organization is already gearing up for the holiday season.
Registration for the Salvation Army's Angel Tree Program begins today and families can sign up all through the week.
Registration will be held on Monday, October 7, and Tuesday, October 8th from 1-4pm.
There will also be registration available on Wednesday, October 9th, Thursday, October 10th, and Friday, October 11th from 10 to 6 pm.
“If I'm not working or if I didn't work enough that year, then it will be kind of hard for my son,” Gainesville resident Rose Stinfil said.
This year, Stinfil is signing her son up for the Salvation Army's Angel Tree Program.
It helps spread holiday cheer to hundreds of kids in North Central Florida whose parents may not be able to afford presents.
"The public will also be able to in the coming weeks to select an angel of the tree to be able to buy the gifts for the children that we're registering this week, you'll just be seeing us everywhere pretty soon,” Salvation Army Major Hank Harwell said.
The Salvation Army is also looking for volunteer bell ringers for their red kettle fundraiser.
