GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB)-- The event everyone at TV20 has been waiting for is sold out. The Ronald Mcdonald House Charities of North Central Florida's seventh annual Red Shoe Affair is Saturday at the Exactech Arena at The Stephen C. O’Connell Center
The goal of the Red Shoe Affair is to raise $200,000 for the charity. Over 750 people have purchased tickets to attend selling out the event.
The event funds more than a third of the Ronald McDonald house operations. This allows the organization to provide housing and other needs to families with children who are getting care at UF Shands.
Sherry Houston, the executive director of the Ronald Mcdonald of NCFL spoke with TV20's Haley Wade on the important work that the charity does not just for the community, but the world.
"We are that safety net for every family that walks through our door, because of those preeminent doctors at UF Health Shands Children Hospital, we truly serve the world," said Houston.
The event is presented by UF Health and catered by Embers Woodfire Grill. Entertainment will feature an electric violinist and the youth band Heavy Pedal.
