GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - The Santa Fe River Ranch is flooded in a sea of pink for the first-ever Rosé Gala.
Kara Winslow is the chair of the event and said, they only had four and a half months to put together the event but received an enormous amount of support from the community. Tonight's event is raising money for two organizations.
"We are raising money for the American Cancer Society Breast Cancer research programming that is done throughout the area. We are also directly raising money for our Winne Dixie Hope Lodge, which is the facility in town where cancer patients from all over the country get to stay for free during their time going through treatment," said Winslow. "We are raising money for both of the hose things tonight."
She says this is an important issue for her because she lost her friend to breast cancer nearly three years ago. Winslow says the decorations at the event were chosen as a way to honor her friend.
"Literally everything single thing I have done for this event has been sort of in her memory. She would love how pink and sparkly everything is. She would love the amazing entertainment we have," said Winslow.
She says multiple items were donated for auction to help raise money for the cause. The event is taking place tonight from 7:00 PM until 10:00 PM at the Santa Fe River Ranch.
