Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, begins tonight

GAINESVILE, Fla. (WCJB)-- On Sunday evening, Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, will commence and continue through Tuesday night, October 1st.

The Lubavitch-Chabad Jewish Student and Community Center will host a full High Holiday Services and meals schedule.

Services will be held on Rosh Hashanah - the Jewish New Year (September 29 - October 1), as well as Yom Kippur - the Day of Atonement (October 8-9).

The schedule is as follows:

Rosh Hashana (first evening and morning schedule)

Sunday, September 29th:

Candle Lighting - 7 p.m.
Evening Sevice - 7:30 p.m. (followed by holiday dinner)

Monday, September 30th:

Morning Service - 10 a.m.
Shofar Blowing - 12:30 p.m. (followed by Mussaf and Kiddush lunch)
Student and Family Waterfront Service at Chabad - 5:30 p.m.

Rosh Hashanah (second evening and morning schedule)

Monday, September 30th:

Candle Lighting - after 7:52 p.m.
Evening Service - 8 p.m. (followed by holiday dinner)

Tuesday, October 1st:

Morning Service - 10 a.m.
Shofar Blowing - 12:30 p.m. (followed by Mussaf and Kiddush lunch)
Holiday ends - 7:50 p.m.

Yom Kippur

Tuesday, October 8th:

Candle Lighting - 6:49 p.m.
Fast begins - 6:49 p.m.
Kol Nidrei and Evening Service - 7:00 p.m.

Wednesday, October 9th:

Shacharit Morning Service - 10 a.m.
Yizkor Service - 12:30 p.m. (followed by Mussaf)
Mincha Afternoon Service - 5:30 p.m.
Neilah Closing Service - 6:30 p.m.
Napoleon's March - 7:30 p.m.
Yom Kippur and Fast ends - 7:40 p.m.

The services will take place at the Center: 2021 NW 5th Ave.
