Run-off election in Alachua to take place Tuesday

ALACHUA, Fla. (WCJB) -- The longtime mayor of the city of Alachua will face off against his opponent in a run-off election on Tuesday.

Mayor Gib Coerper has served as mayor since 2010, but he didn't receive a majority of the votes in Alachua's election on April 9th.

On Tuesday, he faces challenger Gregory Pelham Senior.

Polls open at 7am on Tuesday.

Residents will be able to vote at the Legacy Park Multipurpose Center, the Cleather Hathcock Senior Community Center, and the Clubhouse at Turkey Creek.
