School resource officer in High Springs recognized for saving child's life

HIGH SPRINGS, Fla. (WCJB) – A school resource officer was honored Thursday for his quick action that saved the life of a child.

The High Springs Commission presented officer Jason Taylor with the 'Life Saving Award".

Taylor has been credited with saving a High Springs Community School student after the child was found choking.

Taylor performed the Heimlich maneuver allowing the child to breathe again.

"I was only doing my job," Taylor said.
