58-year-old James Tyson, of Cross City, was charged with failing to yield the right of way Monday after troopers say he caused another driver to get injured.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Travis Dallas, 57, was traveling north in a semi-truck on US-19 in the outside lane just after noon.

Troopers said Tyson, who was also driving a semi-truck, was accelerating in the paved portion of the median. They said Tyson did not notice Dallas and hit his truck.

Both vehicles overturned, causing logs from Dallas’ truck to spill onto the roadway.

Dallas was taken to UF Health Gainesville with serious injuries. His passenger suffered minor injuries. Tyson was not injured.
