GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB)-- Senator Keith Perry's roofing company is being sued by a former employee citing unpaid overtime wages.
The defendant, who is from Dixie County, says that Perry's company paid them on a piece-rate basis and they regularly worked 40 hours a week.
He also claims to have been regularly required to travel outside of the Gainesville area. Travel that was not compensated.
Senator Perry represents the 8th district of Florida, that includes Alachua, Putnam, and part of Marion County.
Perry tells TV20, via text, that he is on a mission trip in Guatemala and is unaware of the lawsuit, adding he will be back on Monday, August 4th.
