ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla (WCJB) -- Coastal Florida has its fair share of Sharks and Alligators, but not inland counties like Alachua.
Nevertheless, a shark was found in Lake Forest Creek, just west of Newnan's lake.
Florida Fish and Wildlife were notified Sunday morning.
Alachua County Sheriff's Deputies say someone dumped the shark in the alligator-infested creek.
ASO spokesman Art Forgey said, "we responded, sure enough, it was a shark. Apparently, somebody had caught the shark and then thats where it had been dumped. It had not gotten there any nefarious way, there was no shark nato, and so it was caught and then relocated there".
A person walking by noticed the shark and called officials.
The person who dumped it in the creek remains unknown.
The case is now FWC's to handle.
