GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - Gainesville jammed out for a good cause Friday night at Sister Hazel's third annual Lyrics for Life concert fundraiser at Santa Fe College.
The event had auction items and performances by Sister Hazel, Shawn Mullins, and Tom Higgenson from the Plain White Tees.
All of the money raised from the event will go to the Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation, Stop Children’s Cancer, and Camp Hazelnut.
Last year, the event raised $300,000.
“We try to have a seriously good time dealing with seriously big issues, and our goal is if we’re having fun, they’re having fun, and we want everybody to leave feeling a little bit better than when they got here.”
This year's them was a tribute to The Eagles.
"It’s really exciting for us because all of us at some point in our life were influenced by the Eagles as far as musicians go, so it’s a lot of fun to get up there and play those songs, and we all hope that we do them justice."
Hundreds of people showed up to enjoy the tunes and to support the cause.
“It means a lot to have that local support, and it’s just a lot of fun because it feels kind of like a hometown party.”
