A solid waste employee was killed Tuesday morning when he was struck by a vehicle as he was standing behind his truck.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 10:00 a.m. on County Road 250 just south of NW Kimble Glen in Columbia County.
The crash report states that 38-year-old Kent Sexton was traveling southeast on County Road 250, where a solid waste truck was stopped in the southbound lane. Troopers say Sexton did not notice the stopped truck or the employee standing behind it and crashed into the back of the vehicle.
The employee, 34-year-old Julian Udell, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sexton suffered serious injuries. FHP says charges are pending an investigation.
