GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) -
What started as an argument between two friends early Saturday morning became a stabbing and Special Response Team-involved situation, according to the Gainesville Police Department.
At 12:00am on Saturday, October 12th, Gainesville police arrived at the Campus Walk Condominiums on Northwest 8th Avenue to investigate reports of a stabbing.
When they arrived on scene, they found the victim suffering from multiple stab wounds and administered life-saving aid. The victim was then trauma alerted to a hospital by EMS.
An investigation by police revealed that 38-year-old Narayana Ary, who is a friend of the victim, was inside the apartment with the victim when an argument ensued.
At some point, Ary stabbed the victim multiple times.
Officers obtained a warrant for Ary for Attempted Murder and then surrounded the apartment he was presumed to be inside of, making several attempts to get Ary to exit the building and comply with their requests.
Ary, however, refused to do so.
As a result of Ary's refusal, Special Response Teams were requested by officers on scene: SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics Team) NRT (Negotiation Response Team) and EST (Emergency Services Team).
Around 5:00am, the Special Response Teams arrived and began to formulate a plan before replacing officers that were on scene.
Then, at approximately 7:00am, SWAT began to enter the apartment. Ary then exited the apartment and surrendered without incident.
Ary is currently booked into the Alachua County Jail with a bond of $750,000.
