(WCJB) -- A state trooper from North Central Florida was recognized by the governor Tuesday.
Trooper Nicholas Dolan was honored as the Trooper of the Year for 2018.
In February of 2017, a protestor fired numerous rounds at the Sabal Trail pipeline in Marion County.
As he fled into Citrus County, Dolan pursued and forced him off the road.
When confronted by Dolan and Citrus County deputies, the man pointed a rifle at them and was shot dead.
Tuesday's resolution reads "Floridians... are safer due to the selfless, heroic actions as demonstrated by trooper Dolan."
