Strange smells sweep through Williston

WILLISTON, Fla. (WCJB)-- Two different strange smells wafted through the city of Williston Tuesday and Wednesday.

The City Manager's office received several calls for bad smells within the city limits over the past two days, both of which city officials say they have now identified and are working to mitigate.

City Manager Scott Lippmann says that one of the offending smells was from the city waste-water treatment plant, which workers are working to repair.

The other, he believes, was carried into the city by favorable, or perhaps unfavorable, easterly winds. He believes the smell came from a Palatka based pulpwood plant, around 60 miles away. Lippmann adds that several other towns nearby have also reported the smell of the pulpwood plant, mentioning Bronson specifically.
