Suspect arrested in Ocala double murder

MARION COUNTY, Fla. (WCJB) — UPDATE 11/7: Major crimes detectives with the Marion County Sheriff's Office have made an arrest for an early morning Halloween shooting that killed two men.

Detectives have arrested 25-year-old Jason Thomas Cole for the murder of Michael White and Lezhan Studivant.

Through the investigation, detectives found that the two victims and defendant were all traveling in the same vehicle when they started to argue, through Belleview.

During the argument, Cole hit Studivant with a gun, then shot him multiple times, before turning the gun on White and shooting him as well.

Cole was finally arrested Thursday after turning himself in.

"Jason Cole contacted the Ocala Police Department and spoke with one of their detectives and indicated that he wished to discuss a shooting that had occurred. When Jason came in he was willing to meet with one of our detectives. After that initial meeting our detectives did take Jason into custody and did charge him with both homicides that occurred early Halloween morning,” said MCSO Public Information Officer Cecelia Koon.

Cole is being held in the Marion County jail with no bond.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office arrested a suspect from a shooting that left two dead on Halloween.

In a press release, deputies said Jason Thomas Cole, 25, was riding in the car with victims Michael White and Lezhan Studivant when they started arguing. Cole struck Studivant with a gun and shot him multiple times, then shot White.

Both Studivant and White were taken to a local hospital where they were both pronounced dead.

On Wednesday, Cole contacted Ocala Police where he confessed to killing two people.

Cole was charged with two counts of second degree murder. He was booked at the Marion County Jail with no bond.
