Suspect sets fire to Ocala home before leading police on chase

MARION COUNTY, Fla. (WCJB)-- A domestic disturbance almost turned deadly in Marion County Tuesday night.

Horse jockey Oswald Pereira faces several charges including arson, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

According to the police report, after a fight with his ex-wife, Pereira went inside her home and started throwing gasoline around in the living room.

The victim told police she then ran outside and called the police.

Then she saw Pereria running out with his pants on fire. He took off his clothes and led police on a chase through Marion and Levy counties.

He was eventually found hiding in a Levy County mobile home.

He is currently recovering at UF Health Shands Hosptial in Gainesville.

The Marion County Sherrif's Office is in the process of receiving a warrant for his arrest.
