LCPD sees spike in medical cases involving synthetic marijuana

Lake City Police officers have responded to multiple calls regarding incidents involving medical issues brought on by synthetic marijuana, according to a press release by the Lake City Police Department.

The drug, also known as K2, is particularly dangerous because it can contain any combination of hazardous chemicals.

“While consuming any drug of this nature is dangerous and illegal," said Lake City Police Chief Argatha Gilmore, "it is particularly important to avoid something as mysterious and unknown as K2."

Once sold in gas stations and convenience stores, synthetic marijuana was outlawed in Florida in 2016.
