GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - It has been 39 years since the murder of an Alachua County man, so the Sheriff's Office is taking the opportunity to remind the public to keep his case in mind.

In a Facebook post, ASO said that on May 20, 1980, the body of Cecil Shealy was found in a field near County Road 241, just north of the city of Alachua.

Shealy was last seen leaving his vehicle with an African American woman and walking toward the field where his body was later found.

Deputies ask that if you have any information on this case, or any other cold cases, to call ASO's Detective Kevin Allen at (352) 384-3323.
