GAINESVILLE, Fla., (WCJB) -- When you're an icon of North Central Florida there's no shortage of tributes. For the first time ever there will be a Tom Petty exhibit on display at the Matheson Museum in Gainesville.
A preview event began at 6 p.m. for members, but the reception open to the public will took place at 7 p.m.
"This show has really come together with a partnership from people who knew tom his friends his family, fans so those are some of the people who have loaned or donated items for the exhibit and so we're really excited to share this with the community," said Kaitlyn Hof- Mahoney, curator of collections at the Matheson Museum.
Over 100 people are expected to attend the free events. Participants will be able to enjoy food and karaoke.
