Tom Petty portrait gifted to Gainesville High School

Gainesville High School became the home of the newest Tom Petty tribute in Gainesville today.

Bill Harlan and Jackie Hoover presented this portrait of Petty, painted by Craig Hall, who was unable to attend. All were classmates of Petty in the class of 1968. The portrait was unveiled at the class's 50th high school reunion in June and was given to the school as a class gift today. There, classmates recounted the impact Petty had on them and the community.

"This portrait of a classmate, by a classmate, is our class gift to Gainesville high school," said Harlan.

GHS plans to hang the portrait in either the media center or the front office.
