GAINESVILLE, Fla.(WCJB)-- Last week, we previewed the 20th annual Trashformations competition.
And now the results are in!
The competition, hosted by the county and the Florida Museum of Natural History, received more than 130 submissions this year- - all made out of at least 70-percent recycled or reused materials.
For the middle school division, Charlotte Vann took first place with her creation "Turtle Survivor."
For high school, Laura House won with her piece "Imbalance."
In the college division, Sopicha Vongvanji won with her sculpture entitled "Hummingbird."
"We've a lot of returning people, some who've been doing this since middle school and they're in college right now. We're pretty happy with what we get to show," said Tiffany Ireland, an educator at the museum.
The winning submissions will be on display at the Florida Museum of Natural History until December 10th.
