The tragic passing of UF alumni and ESPN reporter Edward Aschoff left many stunned.

Aschoff's fiance, Katy Betreau, sent a series of tweets from his account yesterday. He was initially diagnosed with bilateral pneumonia, but she says his antibiotic treatment failed. When his symptoms got worse, Aschoff was sent back into the ER.

According to the tweets, he was then treated for a presumed diagnosis of HLH - a rare condition causing white blood cells to attack other healthy cells.

Aschoff died on Christmas eve, which was also his 34th birthday. His family will be holding a service in Atlanta.
