UPDATE: Shots fired near UF Vet School believed to be target practice

UPDATE: UF Alert has released new information saying the suspect has not been located. Police are clearing the scene. They believe the suspect was target practicing only. No need to avoid the area anymore.


The University of Florida alerts have reported shots fired near the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine on SW 16th Avenue.

Police say the suspect is still at large. According to the UF Alert Twitter, the suspect was possibly armed with a 9mm firearm. They also say this is not an active shooter situation.

The suspect is approximately 20 years old with short brown curly hair, wearing a grey shirt and khaki pants.
