GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - UF Health celebrated the opening of its newest medical facility today.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at the new Oaks Mall location this afternoon.
The old Sears space will now feature services like audiology in the 139,000 square-foot space as well as an outpatient surgical center.
“Patients will have the ability to come very easily to the place,” said Sonal Tuli, the UF College Of Medicine Department Of Ophthalmology Chair. “There’s public services like buses for patients who can’t drive. Some of our patients have poor vision. They don’t have licenses, so it’s really nice they can take a public transport and get here."
A reception and tours of the space followed the ceremony.
There is a community event planned for Saturday, January 25th.
