UF Senior Housing Director charged with grand larceny

The University of Florida's Senior Director of Housing has been arrested and charged with first degree grand larceny.

Azfar Mian is accused of using his personal credit and debit card to make purchases, claiming they were work related, and then asking to be reimbursed.

Mian also used his university issued card to pay for non-work related items.

A total of $180,607.65 was stolen, and investigators found several items at Mian's home, that had been purchased using university funds.

In an interview with TV20, UF Provost Joe Glover said his actions do not reflect on the university.

Mian is out of the Alachua County Jail, and has been placed on administrative leave and trespassed from campus.

UF spokesperson Janine Sikes says five other employees who worked under Mian have been placed on administrative leave, because of potential involvement. Their names have not been released.
