GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - Flu season is quickly approaching and the University of Florida wants to make sure all of their students, faculty, and staff are vaccinated.

Today, the University of Florida student health center hosted its “fight the flu” lawn event today.

This is their keystone event, in which they try and vaccinate as many students as possible throughout the day by having a competition with other schools in the state.

This year, UF, FSU, UCF, AND USF are all competing to see which school is able to vaccinate the most students.

Students were also given the option to receive a free Meningitis B vaccine and received free food, drinks, and a t-shirt for participating in the event.

The official count of students vaccinated will be announced tomorrow, as will the winning school.
