UF students smash watermelons for charity

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) -- This afternoon University of Florida students hosted a charity event which turned out to be a smashing success.

Lambda Chi Alpha hosted Watermelon Bust 2019 this afternoon on campus at Flavet Field.

Participating teams played various watermelon-themed games like watermelon bowling and human Hungry Hungry Hippos.

All funds raised will be used to buy canned goods for the bread of the mighty food bank

Lambda Chi Alpha says so far they've raised more than $1,300 and 11 boxes of canned goods.
