UFPD: man steals another man's red baseball cap during Trump event

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) — A man was arrested for stealing another man’s red baseball cap during the Donald Trump Jr. and Kimberly Guilfoyle event at the University of Florida Thursday night.

According to a UFPD arrest report, Richard Tate, 36, approached another man wearing a red t-shirt, a red baseball cap and holding a sign while moving through a crowd of people. UFPD said Tate then took his hat and ran away.

The victim chased Tate and took the hat back. The entire incident was seen by a UF Police officer.

Tate was charged with robbery by sudden snatching and booked at the Alachua County Jail.

TV20 has not received confirmation of any other arrests during the event.
