MARION CO., Fla. (WCJB)-- The University of North Florida and the Florida Department of Transportation for FDOT's Alert Today, Alive Tomorrow campaign has given a grant to the Marion County Sheriff's Office.
According to MCSO, their Traffic Unit deputies will start a High Visibility Enforcement Details in the area of Highway 200 from I-75 to County Road 484. This area has seen an increase in traffic crashes resulting in serious and fatal injuries to pedestrians and bicyclists.
This will focus on improving pedestrian and bicycle safety and will take place on Wednesday, January 23, 2019. Deputies will be concentrating more on educating the public about traffic laws during this enforcement to ensure the safety of everyone on the road. Violations may result in warnings or citations depending on the circumstances.
