TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCJB) -- The number of unemployed North Central Florida residents is dropping, according to a jobs report released by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity on Friday.
Every county in our region saw a decrease in unemployment numbers since March of this year, with Alachua County and Lafayette County showing the lowest numbers at 2.6% each.
The following is a breakdown of unemployment numbers across North Central Florida for April 2019, relative to March:
Alachua County - 2.6%, down from 3.0%
Bradford County - 2.7%, down from 3.1%
Columbia County - 2.9%, down from 3.3%
Dixie County - 3.4%, down from 3.7%
Gilchrist County - 3.2%, down from 3.6%
Lafayette County - 2.6%, down from 3.0%
Levy County - 3.4%, down from 3.9%
Madison County - 3.5%, down from 3.9%
Marion County - 3.5%, down from 3.9%
Putnam County - 3.8%, down from 4.3%
Suwannee County - 3.1%, down from 3.5%
Taylor County - 3.3%, down from 3.5%
Union County - 2.8%, down from 3.1%
Every county, with the exception of Alachua County, saw a slight to moderate decrease in the size of the labor pool during the same timeframe.
