KEY LARGO, Fla. (WCJB) -

One veteran traded in the horse farms of Marion County for the deep blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean on Saturday.

A Marion County veteran got the opportunity to dive in Key Largo as part of the Wounded Warrior Project, a non-profit organization that aims to help veterans transition to civilian life.

The Marion County veteran swam with 9 other Florida veterans at a communication workshop.

They were able to swim with nurse sharks and received a scuba diving certification.
