OCALA, Fla. (WCJB)- On Thursday night, a community held a vigil for a young woman who was shot and killed outside the Cloud 9 nightclub in Ocala.
"It has been a struggle with us dealing with this,” Katina Robinson, the victim’s mother, said.
Benetria Robinson, 19, was shot and killed as she was outside of the nightclub.
As the Robinson family looks back, they say they are determined to heal by remembering how Benetria would light up their lives.
"She's really sweet, a lot of fun. She got along with everybody,” Bennie Robinson Jr., Benetria’s brother, said.
Dozens of her closest family and friends gathered outside the nightclub to light candles, say a prayer and release balloons.
The Robinson Family says Benetria would have turned 23 this year.
They're planning to throw a birthday celebration in her memory this November.
Michael Smith, 23, and Laquan Barrow, 26, were both convicted last December of second-degree murder in connection with Benetria's death.
