Volunteers needed at the Victim Services and Rape Crisis Center in Gainesville

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. (WCJB) -

Alachua County is putting out a call for volunteers for it's Victim Services and Rape Crisis Center in Gainesville.

They are looking for people to serve as phone counselors who can answer the agency's 24/7 helpline while the office is closed.

They are looking for bilingual or Spanish-speaking recruits.

The program requires a commitment of 36-shifts or nine months.

No fees or prior experience is asked of participants, who will receive 30 hours of free training.

The Victim Services and Rape Crisis Center's main office is located at 218 SE 24th Street, Gainesville, FL 32641 and is open Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm.
