Volunteers needed for the Foster Grandparent program

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB)-- The Alachua County Foster Grandparent Program is currently looking for volunteers, ages 55 and up, to be role models and provide one on one academic assistance to students.

The City says, Foster Grandparents work one-on-one with children, especially in Head Start classes, elementary schools, and after-school programs.

Volunteers must meet income qualifications, be in good physical health, and pass a background screening.

In return, volunteers will get a bi-weekly non-taxable stipend, a daily meal, mileage reimbursement, and supplemental insurance.
