MARION COUNTY, Fla. (WCJB)-- A veteran is traveling the country raising awareness of childhood hunger and bullying.
3,069 - that's the number of push-ups war veteran Patrick Parker did Friday to raise awareness for childhood hunger and bullying.
It's all part of his million push-up campaign.
Parker visited two different Ocala businesses where he performed his push-ups.
On his journey he has visit 12 states bringing his message with him.
"I felt like 'okay, well if I do push-ups, it's something that I enjoy doing,' this amount of push-ups is really going to hurt but I want to feel that pain because that's the pain that kids feel and I know the pain that I felt when I was going to school so I need to do everything that I can in order to bring that awareness,” Parker said.
With the help of donations from the community, Parker also hands out anti-bullying comic workbooks for children so they can find help.
Parker hopes to make it to California next to spread his message.
